Yesterday evening I met with one of my members from over at The Mix Academy, Ross Galvan, for a 1 on 1 online mentorship session.
Just before we began, I thought to myself… “I should record this!”. I figured it would be valuable for Ross to be able to watch it back and learn from it over time.
Once our meeting was over and I began to prep the files to send to him I thought that the training would also be helpful to you. An inside look at how I approach vocals in a private 1 on 1 setting.
Well, Ross has generously agreed to let me share it with all of you here on the blog. For free. 😉
Topics include:
- Vocal clean up/shaping tone
- De-essing
- Parallel Compression
- Referencing Vocal Production
- Stereo Buss Processing (Mmmmm!)
If you liked this video then I’m confident that you’ll LOVE my premium training courses.

David the way you boosted to emphasize a frequency on the vocal and then cut around it to help it sound more natural is exactly what I do all the time it really works wonders. I’m trying out the way you do things on a session right now and things are working smoothly because of it.
Glad to help Jerry! Thanks for the message.
Very valuable to see, thanks.
Thanks Gerry!
Can’t tell you how much I’ve Iearned from this bro, especially using Saturn on the 2buss.
Thanx for sharing!
I was seriously impressed with Saturn! I’ve used it for a ton of things, but that was ridiculous. Lol
Thanks KC!
Whew! that was AWESOME!
And entertaining as well 🙂
Also the Beat & Rap were quite remarkable - thanks for the good stuff!
Carl
I’m glad you dig it Carl. Thanks for the message!
Wow. That was awesome!!! Learned a lot in 47 minutes. The vocals feels so alive. Thanks so much David!!
Thanks Dami!
Wow David, I can’t thank you enough for this, more pure gold. It definitely reinforced a lot of what you taught in the Mixing Vocals course, but there were also new things I learned! And a shout out to when you put Saturn on that mix buss: I already loved this plugin, but I tried that on something and WOW! Perfect. Thanks for dropping nearly an hour of wisdom for free David!
It’s totally my pleasure Ethan! Thanks so much for the support.
Great video, the focus on how to approach and take care of the concept, rather than the plug in is fantastic!!! Many thanks
Thanks Armando!
